If you are new to hobby greenhouse gardening, selecting from the many greenhouse kits available can be daunting. There are many greenhouse kit makers, such as Rion, Eco Greenhouse, Juliana, Riga, etc. There are several types of frames (plastic/resin, aluminum, wood) many types of panels (polycarbonate, clear polycarbonate, glass, acrylic). Then there are the shapes of greenhouses (barn style, A-frame, lean-to, octagonal) and a slew of sizes to choose from, starting at nothing more than a seedlin.....

Many people have the misconception that operating a greenhouse is expensive. Of course there is some expense in the initial acquisition. However once built, with just minimal heat you will be amazed at how many wonderful plants both flowers and vegetables you can start from seed. To say nothing of being able to propagate and overwinter those favorite tender plants.

To get the most out of a garden, you can extend the growing season by sheltering plants from cold weather both in early spring and during the fall. Very ambitious gardeners harvest greens and other cool-weather crops all winter by providing the right conditions. There are many ways to lengthen the growing season, and your choice depends on the amount of time and money you want to invest.
